Founder/Director/Group Leader - Glenn McCormick

I started Kids Nature Adventures because I believe that positive experiences in nature are an essential part of childhood and that every child should experience that sense of wonder that only nature can provide.  I want the same thing for every child at Kids Nature Adventures that I want for my own daughter – to be safe and to have plenty of exciting and enjoyable open-ended time for exploration and play in nature.   Join us for an inspiring outdoor experience.  We will provide the guidance and supervision – but nature will be the teacher.

I live in San Francisco with my wife and two children.  I hold a B.A. in history, an M.A. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and a CA Teaching Credential.  I have been an educator for over 15 years and currently teach at Thurgood Marshall High School in SF.   Hiking, camping, fly-fishing and exploring the natural areas around the Bay Area are my favorite ways to spend free time.

Group Leader -  Stig Olsen
Stig is back for his third summer with Kids Nature Adventures.   He is a  graduate of Westmont College in Santa Barbara where he earned his B.A. in Kinesiology and completed his CA Teaching Credential.   He lives in San Francisco with his wife and teaches at Mission High School.  Stig's energy, enthusiasm and love for the outdoors inspire all the kids he works with.

Group Leader - Jon Oberto
The summer of 2012 will be Jon's first with Kids Nature Adventures.  Jon has a B.A. in Political Science from Colorado State University,  an M.A. in Bilingual Education from USF and holds a CA Teaching Credential.  He currently teaches at Roosevelt Middle School in SF and has over 20 years of experience in the classroom.  Jon lives in SF with his wife and two children.  His hobbies include hiking, camping, fly-fishing, and fly tying and he can't wait to share his passion for the outdoors with our campers.

Counselors:
Kids Nature Adventures hires only highly qualified individuals with verifiable experience working with children.  All counselors have at least an undergraduate degree, are trained in CPR and First Aid, and undergo a thorough background check.   Many of our staff members are educators during the school year; all have leadership experience and, most importantly, love working with kids.  Creating a safe environment is our top priority and because we maintain a low staff/child ratio (1 to 5) it allows us to make sure that all campers are under the supervision of a counselor at all times.
